Plaud Opens Asia-Pacific Headquarters in Singapore, Doubles Investment to SGD $20 Million

Company grows Singapore team tenfold in nine months as the Republic becomes Plaud’s regional hub for engineering, product development and AI innovation

SINGAPORE – SEPTEMBER 16, 2026 – Plaud, the company building real-world wearable AI interface for professionals, today announced the opening of its Asia-Pacific (APAC) headquarters in Singapore, alongside a commitment to invest at least SGD $20 million to expand engineering, product development and regional operations. The expanded commitment doubles the company's original SGD $10 million investment announced earlier this year, reinforcing Singapore’s role as Plaud's long-term hub for innovation and growth across APAC.

The regional headquarters was officially opened at a ceremony attended by guest-of-honour Mdm Rahayu Mahzam, Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, alongside Plaud employees, partners and industry leaders, and officials from EDB and IMDA.

Located at Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC), the new 15,000 sq ft regional headquarters marks the next phase of Plaud’s APAC expansion, with plans to grow the Singapore team to 150 employees by the end of 2026. The office houses teams across engineering, product, customer success, operations, marketing and regional business functions as the company scales across the region.

Singapore serves as Plaud's regional headquarters for operations across 12 markets outside Japan and mainland China, comprising Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

"Singapore is where we're building the future of Plaud in Asia," said Nathan Xu, CEO and Co-founder of Plaud. "Every era of computing has its defining interface. In the era of agentic AI, it will be conversation — not screens. Asia is one of the hardest places in the world to build AI that understands context and intent because people switch seamlessly between languages, dialects, and contexts. Singapore brings that diversity together in one place. If we can make AI feel natural here, we can make it feel natural anywhere in the world."

"Singapore’s strong AI and engineering capabilities, diverse talent pool and access to Asia-Pacific markets make it an ideal base for companies like Plaud to build AI products for global markets. The APAC HQ in Singapore will create exciting opportunities for our local workforce to help drive Plaud’s global ambitions through roles in product and AI hardware development and data infrastructure. This will further strengthen Singapore’s position as a trusted hub for AI deployment and innovation," said Lionel Lim, Vice President and Head, Technology Hardware and Equipment, EDB.

Growing with Singapore

The additional capital follows a period of rapid growth on the ground: Plaud has expanded its Singapore team from 10 to approximately 100 employees in just nine months — a tenfold increase — reaching its original end-of-2026 hiring milestone three months ahead of schedule. The new regional headquarters will support continued hiring across engineering, product and business functions as the company scales.

That pace mirrors Plaud's broader trajectory. Since launching in 2023, the company has grown from US $1 million to US$100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) within two years, and today serves over 2.5 million users globally.

Building real-world AI interface from Singapore, for the world

Singapore's density of languages, accents, and code-switching makes it one of the world’s most complex conversational environments — and that difficulty is exactly why Plaud is building here. An AI that can follow a meeting where speakers move between English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, and colloquial languages in the same sentence is an AI that has been tested against a harder standard than most markets ever demand. Plaud's Singapore teams are building for that standard first, not adapting to it later.

That work shows up directly in the product. Rather than building for one language and adapting it for the region later, Plaud’s engineers build multilingual, code-switching capabilities into the core of the product from day one. The result: users simply capture a conversation and stay fully present in it, while Plaud turns what was said into structured notes and actionable insights. Singapore engineers are now contributing to the next generation of these capabilities, which will be rolled out across the core Plaud experience globally.
